# ChainFolioAI > ChainFolioAI is a read-only crypto + traditional portfolio tracker with real-time PNL, advanced metrics, multi-country FIFO tax tools, and an AI assistant that knows your real portfolio. It has a public REST API and an MCP server, so AI agents can read a user's portfolio directly. 100% read-only and non-custodial: it never receives private keys, never moves funds. Web app, multilingual (PT/EN/ES/FR), free to start. ## What it does - Consolidates crypto (on-chain wallets, exchanges, DeFi, NFTs, stablecoins, manual assets) and traditional assets (stocks, ETFs, gold) in one dashboard. - Exchanges: 13 connected by read-only API key (10 of them MiCA-licensed in the EU: Kraken, Coinbase, OKX, Bybit, Crypto.com, Bitpanda, Bitvavo, Bitstamp, Bit2Me, Revolut X; plus Nexo Pro, Binance, CoinEx), CSV import and manual entry for the rest. Keys stay in the browser by default, or encrypted (AES-256-GCM) on the server if the user opts in. - NFTs on 9 EVM networks, Solana, Cardano and Bitcoin (Ordinals), read through Alchemy/Helius/Blockfrost; spam collections filtered. - Sign-in: email + password, passwordless email link, Google, or a wallet signature (MetaMask on Ethereum, Phantom on Solana — Sign-In with Ethereum/Solana, no email needed). A wallet-only account has no email and receives no emails until one is added. - DeFi positions read directly from the chain, no third-party aggregator: Aave V3, Spark, Compound V3, Morpho, EigenLayer, and Uniswap V2/V3/V4 (Ethereum and major L2s). Other protocols may be missing; the app labels such totals as "partial". - Real-time profit/loss (PNL), portfolio Score (0-100), and benchmarks vs BTC, ETH, S&P 500 and Gold. - Portfolio chart with candles and selectable moving averages (SMA 7/20/50/100/200, EMA 9/21), over history rebuilt point by point. - Advanced metrics: ROI, CAGR, Sharpe ratio, Sortino, Calmar, Max Drawdown, volatility, VaR 95%. - Crypto tax, FIFO capital gains, with Excel and PDF export. Country coverage depends on plan: 4 countries on Free, 13 on Pro, 21 on Premium. - Losses offset gains within the same tax year and the same tax bracket; a loss on an asset whose gain would be exempt is not deductible. The annual allowance is applied last, to the already-offset balance. - Trading fees and gas are part of the cost basis: a buy fee adds to the lot, a sell fee is deducted from the proceeds, and a partial sale takes its proportional share. Fees can be entered in the price currency or in the gas token, valued at that day's price. - Fee-only entries for gas with no buy or sell (failed swaps, approvals, gas paid from another wallet). They reduce the token balance and are listed separately in the tax report; they are NOT deducted automatically, because deductibility varies by country. - Lending positions read straight from the contracts, showing supplied, borrowed, net value and health factor. The portfolio total uses the net value, so a leveraged position does not inflate it. Other protocols may not appear yet. - FIRE (financial independence) calculator. - Live market: prices, BTC/ETH dominance, Fear & Greed, derivatives (open interest, funding, long/short, CVD), TradingView charts, AI-summarised news, daily AI briefing. - Smart Money: track whale wallets and their on-chain moves (ETH/BTC/SOL). - AI assistants, three, by plan: "Chain" (in-app chat on every page: live crypto prices and market data plus help using the platform; it does not read the user's portfolio; Free plan: 3 messages/month, unlimited on Pro and Premium), the "Portfolio AI Assistant" on the Portfolio page (Pro and Premium: PNL, allocation, advanced metrics, follow-up questions in the same conversation) and "Block" (Premium only: dedicated AI portfolio manager with full access, up to 150 messages/day in the app). The API/MCP AI chat (`/api/v1/chat`, `ask_ai`) has its own separate limit of 50 messages/day per account. - Multi-portfolio: several isolated accounts (Free: 1, Pro: 3, Premium: 10). - Trade history is manual entry or CSV import. There is no automatic sync of exchange transactions into the history. ## For AI agents and developers - REST API and MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. Works with Claude and Cursor. - With a key, an agent can read holdings, PNL, risk metrics (ROI, CAGR, Sharpe, Sortino, Calmar, volatility, drawdown, VaR 95%), recorded trades, FIFO realised gains with fees and gas deducted, and a capital-gains tax estimate in the country's own currency (ECB rate of each operation's date, long-term rate by holding period, annual allowance applied). - PUBLIC, no key required: `GET https://chainfolioai.com/api/v1` (discovery index), `GET https://chainfolioai.com/api/v1/tax-countries` and `GET https://chainfolioai.com/api/v1/global`. The tax endpoint, and the `list_tax_countries` MCP tool, return the 21 tax regimes we publish, with short and long-term rates, holding period, annual allowance and the reference law.
